Arrival
by Druk-air Paro
During this journey, one will experience breathtaking views of Mount Everest,
Kanchen Junga and other Himalayan Peaks including sacred Chomolhari and
Mount Jichu Drake in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro International Airport
the representative of Atlas Tours and Trek will receive you and help you
with the visa and other formalities and drive you to Thimphu. Overnight
in hotel.
Thimphu
Tongsa
Drive to Tongsa. View Wangdiphodrang Dzong from outside. Pack lunch at
Wangdiphodrang and continue driving to Tongsa. En route cross Pelela,
the region with different species of rhododendron (flowering season: Spring
April to May). Overnight in lodge/camp. (Shopfront in Trongsa)

Tsechu
First day of festival begins. No photography in the Dzong.

Tsechu
Witness the Tongsa Tsechu on the courtyard of the Dzong. Photography is
allowed for the remaining days.
Morning witness the Tsechu, which also is the last day. After early lunch drive to Wangdiphodrang. Overnight at guest house/camp. Visit Wangdiphodrang dzong.
After breakfast drive to Paro via Thimphu. Lunch at Thimphu and do your last shopping and continue the drive to Paro. Overnight in hotel.
Drive through the winding road northwest up the Pa Chu to Drugyel Dzong, the ruined fort (destroyed by fire in 1950.) which once defended this valley from the Tibetan invasion. From here one can have the view of sacred Mt. Chomolhari on clear days. On the way back make a stop for a view of Taktsang (tigers nest) Monastery which clings on the sheer drop of rock face where the saint Guru Padma-sambhava landed on the flying tiger and mediated there. Lunch at Ta Dzong, former Watch Tower which now houses the National Museum and then walk down passing close by the Paro Dzong, crossing the Bhutanese typical wooden roofed bridge to Paro town. After a short stroll in town drive back to hotel for the night halt.
After early breakfast drive to the airport for departure by Druk-air.
